The 1967 Mamas & the Papas song "Creeque Alley" uses wonderfully basic, sing-along chords to tell the story of the group to that point. It's a light, upbeat number from people who were at the top and didn't know how far they had to fall. The 1991 Creeque Alley box set is also tempting, but All the Leaves Are Brown is a better deal.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears is the debut studio album by the American folk rock vocal group The Mamas and the Papas (erroneously spelled "The Mama's and the Papa's" on the cover), released in 1966. In 2003, it was ranked on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, with its rank rising to in the 2012 revision.
