Being Born again (without dying, as an epiphany) is a metaphor used in a number of religions. Arhat or 'arhant', the Buddist conception which succeeds the earlier Dvija concept in the Dharmic tradition. Born again is a Christian term for spiritual rebirth and salvation. Dvija the concept of being "twice-born" prominent in Hinduism since classical times. Rebirth in Hinduism refers only to Spirit (Jivatman) and. Re-born or Born again refers only to Soul perfecting to attain salvation aka Moksha.

Individuals who profess to be "born again" often state that they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The phrase "born again" is also used as an adjective to describe individual members of the movement who espouse this belief, as well as the movement itself ("born-again Christian" and the "born-again movement". In the chapter, Nicodemus is puzzled and asks Jesus what he means by saying that "Ye must be born again".

We begin the process of being born again through exercising faith in Christ, repenting of our sins, and being baptized by immersion for the remission of sins by one having priesthood authority.
