d Garrick I think you mean Shellac, not Polvo. 4 years ago. I love the lo-fi quality of this album so much. It's like finding an old record in a dusty attic or buried under ground. I've been doing my laundry to this album for the last few years. 2 years ago. i love this more everytime i hear it. Anything but good content. Found this on a rainer maria album love it. Khazgob. Thank you for the upload. I just came across this and I absolutely love it. It has probably everything I look for in the genre.

Admired equally in both comic and tragic roles, Garrick introduced a more naturalistic and expressive style of acting that transformed the European stage. He also wrote plays and ran the Drury Lane theatre. Reynolds depicts Garrick choosing between the charms of Thalia, the classical muse of Comedy and Melpomene, the muse of Tragedy. Garrick is laughingly yielding to Comedy, with whose limbs his overlap. Their animated features (look at Garrick’s expressive eyebrows) contrast with the more mask-like profile of Melpomene. Comedy looks knowingly out at us.

David Garrick (19 February 1717 – 20 January 1779) was an English actor, playwright, theatre manager and producer who influenced nearly all aspects of theatrical practice throughout the 18th century, and was a pupil and friend of Dr Samuel Johnson. He appeared in a number of amateur theatricals, and with his appearance in the title role of Shakespeare 's Richard III, audiences and managers began to take notice. Have mercy, Jesu! Soft! I did but dream. O coward conscience, how dost thou afflict me! – Shakespeare's Richard III Act V, Sc.

Reynolds's ambitious painting of the celebrated actor David Garrick was one of the most important of his entire career. The subject was probably Garrick's own idea: a playful parody of the classical story of Hercules choosing between pleasure and virtue, designed to emphasise Garrick's versatility. Reynolds presents the figures of Comedy and Tragedy in the style of Antonio Correggio and Guido Reni. Correggio was known for his seductive use of colour, Reni for the strictures of line.
