Their guitarist is incredible for one, almost never playing a single repetitive riff and able to play extremely fast and technical solos and licks. I also love how they manage to keep each track unique as it goes along, and how each track shows a hint of many different styles, including, as I said before, a few hard rock segments, some technical death metal, and much more. The band is able to keep very tight and fast throughout the album as well, and the recording sounds very professional

Empire of the Obscene is the debut studio album by the American technical death metal band, Revocation. It was released in February 2008 under an independent label. This is the only Revocation album to be self-released, as the band was signed to Relapse Records in early 2009. The album was reissued in 2015 on Metal Blade Records. Revocation is an American technical death metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, founded by guitarist and vocalist David Davidson, bassist and vocalist Anthony Buda and drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne in 2000. The band have released seven studio albums, two EPs and ten music video since its formation. Includes FREE MP3 version of this album. I'm glad to see that Metal Blade has seen fit to re-release Revocation's first album, Empire of the Obscene, which the band put out independently in 2008. These guys are one of the few newer metal bands I've heard that I actually like enough to follow, and their other albums are superb. I hadn't heard their debut before now, and I'm highly impressed with where they already were with their technicality and songwriting right from the start.
