Singles is the original soundtrack album to the film Singles, primarily focused on the ascendant Seattle grunge scene of the early 1990s. It also features contributions from Minneapolis's Paul Westerberg (his first solo material after the breakup of The Replacements), Chicago's The Smashing Pumpkins, and past Seattle rockers Jimi Hendrix and The Lovemongers (Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart). It was released on June 30, 1992.

Having a thing for Laughing Buddha's Karma I am somewhat biased with this album, but the sample in this track does something to my brain. Perhaps reminiscent of something I heard in my infancy it sucks me right in, and I'm still hoping one day I'll be able to let the sample trip me through the entire track. An essential tune in my book. Anyway, I mention this bias already here, because apart from this track, Psychopod's Universal Mind, and Infinity Project's Hyperspaced, I find this album overall rather average. But, sure, taste is taste, and I can hear how some people will dig Doof's Weird Karma or Hallucinogen's Soothsayer. They just never rock my boat big time... but then, Hallucinogen never really has :o). Also, I don't see that much in a track like Synchro's See Ya Later Oscillator. It sounds almost like something made for a laugh. Deviant's 10 minutes long S.T.C. also leaves me somewhat unfulfilled, whereas closing track Scorch is 10 minutes of outright noise. Obviously, a last minute filler the world could have done without. Summarizing, T.I.P. followers will most likely find another good reason here for why it is they faithfully follow(ed) T.I.P. Newcomers, on the other hand, might wanna give other, less hyped label compilations a go before they pay the extra dough for a T.I.P. release. Series like Goa Vibes and Psychedelic Vibes from Trust In Trance comes to mind.
