A Life Once Lost uses a mixture of the complex time-signatures and repetitive grooves many associate to Meshuggah and the mainstream sounding breakdowns of Lamb of God to create A Great Artist. So here’s A Great Artist: Track 1: Surreal Atrocities The maiden track of the album begins with a heavy riff handing, materializing itself again throughout the song several times. As the song progresses, however, several ambient guitar layers begin to make the song not so monotonous. In fact, not monotonous at all.

A Life Once Lost was an American metalcore band based in Pennsylvania. A Life Once Lost formed in 1999 in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Case of Those Appointed to Die, on Robotic Empire, they toured with Canadian band The End. After a second release on Deathwish In. A Life Once Lost released their third album, Hunter, on Ferret Music in 2005

WIth Hunter, A Life Once Lost somewhat ditched the distinctive djenty sound of A Great Artist, and instead incorporated more Lamb of God- like groove into their music. Almost every song has the LOG-y style riffs- with some being more influenced by Meshuggah, and the others just being plain kickass. The distinctive A Life Once Lost riffs are scattered all over the album- either in their full groovy pride, or just being atmospheric and chilling (such as the ones in "Hunter").
