The Darkness is the tenth studio album by American hip hop duo Twiztid. It was released on January 27, 2015 through Majik Ninja Entertainment with distribution via INgrooves. Recording sessions took place at the Dojo, a MNE recording studio in Michigan. Production was handled by Michael "Seven" Summers, Jake One, Eric Davie, Fritz the Cat and the Dead Beatz. The album peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard 200, at No. 3 on the Top Rap Albums chart, and No. 5 on the Independent Albums in the United States.

Twiztid released their third compilation album at ninth overall album, Cryptic Collection Vol. 3, on May 18, 2004, the album charted at on the Billboard 200. Monoxide Child released his debut solo album Chainsmoker LP on November 16, 2004, the album charted at on the Billboard 200. Man's Myth and Mutant era (2005–2007). In a promo video in mid 2014 for The Moment You've All Been Waiting For, it was announced at the end of the video that Twiztid's new project would be called The Darkness. Twiztid stated in a later 2014 interview that they will release short promo video's from December 2014 til January 2015 to help promotion for the album. Twiztid's first album for their own Majik Ninja Entertainment label displays a great departure in sound for the horrorcore crew, as the dark carnival style of their Psychopathic days gives way to the more cinematic and clean productions found here. In this case, "cinematic" means "horror movies," while titles like "A Little Fucked Up" and "Back to Hell" display the duo's continued allegiance to all things dark, defiant, and dramatic.
