The lineup consists of Chadbourne on guitar and banjo, Eeena Ballard (electric viola), Joee Conroy (violin, bass), Evan Gallagher (keyboards), Steve Good (reeds), Norman Minogue (theremin, drums), and Ted Reichman (accordion). The music remains chamber-style for the most part.

Among the heaps of strange releases by Eugene Chadbourne, this one stands in the five percent, top-of-the-pyramid strangest. Identified as part four in the "Horror" series, it has particularly strong ties with Horror, Part 3: X the Man With the X-Ray Eyes (Horror Part III). Both are presented as tributes to Ray Milland (a B-series horror flick actor) and both have a sound collage feel. Horror, Part 4: The Thing With Two Heads consists of a collage of various sound sources in the first three of these 11 untitled parts.

I took part in all manner of sonic mayhem with these sides: listeners will sometimes hear a dozen concert bands at once, all playing different pieces. This piece is dedicated to the wonderful Herbert Hazelman, who conducted the Grimsley band for nearly a half a century, introducing much contemporary music. But nothing that sounds like this, it should be added! Fans of Anthony Braxton's far-out marches or the Alan Silva orchestra will find this tremendously appealing.

Another in Chadbourne's infamous "insect" series, this may be the jazziest yet of the fine Doctor's work. This recording is actually a compilation of tracks during the span of slightly more than a year. While Chadbourne is the unifying factor, there are an additional 15 musicians (including tenor saxophonist Ellery Eskelin, percussionists Garth Powell and Gino Robair, and saxophonist Dan Plonsey) who pop up from time to time. Chadbourne plays acoustic and electric guitars, Dobro, and five-string banjo, and his jazz roots are clearly evident.

Bisou Records asked Eugene Chadbourne to do an album for children and he proposed an album about horror movies and monsters. Some references are obvious, like "The Thing", "Blacky Lagoony", et. and some are about strange characters, like "Vampire Tiger Girl", and some are covers (Sam And The Shams, Shockabilly). It's probably the best recorded album of Eugene Chadbourne. Eugene met Steve Beresford and Alex Ward in London at Eastcote Studios, where Adele, Duran Duran, Aswad, Tindersticks, and Depeche Mode recorded)

Steve Beresford is famous for his solo recording The Bath Of Surprise (1980). He was part of The Melody Four (with Lol Coxhill and Tony Coe) and released records on labels like Emanem, nato, and Tzadik. Alex Ward was 14 when Derek Bailey started to play with him, as a duo, and in a trio with Steve Noble.
