Pickett recorded several tracks in 1972 for a planned new album on Atlantic, but after the single "Funk Factory" reached R&B and pop in June 1972, he left Atlantic for RCA Records. His final Atlantic single, a recording of Randy Newman's "Mama Told Me Not to Come," was culled from Pickett's 1971 album Don't Knock My Love. "I'm Down to My Last Heartbreak" b/w "I Can't Stop".

I'm Down to My Last Heartbreak.

Originally performed by Wilson Pickett in 1965 and released on the 1965 album of the same name. Also appeared on the 1966 album The Exciting Wilson Pickett. It was composed by Pickett and Steve Cropper at the historic Lorraine Motel in Memphis where Martin Luther King, Jr. would later be murdered in April 1968. The song has become a 1960s soul standard, and placed at on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time.
