Machinedrum - Human Energy A move from Berlin to LA, a new engagement, pastel imagery, "healing music"-if you hadn't been aware of these things before listening to Human Energy, the album would still seem like a positive turn from Travis Stewart. Sped up and decked out in neon, Human Energy is unfailingly happy. It's the work of an artist already known for fast music trying to go even faster. He doesn't do it through higher BPMs or jungle flights of fancy.

With Human Energy, Travis Stewart (aka Machinedrum) has made a career-defining album, one which will take him from best-kept-secret of the electronic music cognoscenti to breakout star of the US music scene. Why and how? The simple answer is that he’s fallen in love and moved to California, let in light and warmth to his always technically stunning productions. I moved across the country to a new city, I proposed to the girl of my dreams, I moved into a new house, bought a brand new computer and set off to write a new album.

Album · 2016 · 15 Songs. Human Energy Machinedrum. Listen on Apple Music. Gloriously frenetic and completely euphoric glitch-pop.

Machinedrum – Human Energy. With Human Energy, Travis Stewart (aka Machinedrum) has made a career-defining album, one which will take him from best-kept-secret of the electronic music cognoscenti to breakout star of the US music scene. The complex answer is, well, more complicated. But then, you can spend forever trying to explain or you can just revel in this remarkable album. Let’s begin with the simple. Written between January and April.

Travis Stewart’s had one of the more typical internet-era careers in that context: as Machinedrum, he spent nearly ten years being underrated for working in the margins of glitch-hop, then was pulled into the post-dubstep orbit to find a cult audience that felt bigger than it actually was. He went on to find equal renown (and more resilient praise) in a team-up with Praveen Sharma as Sepalcure. And then, because this is what happens now, he started putting out the amount of work one typically needs to do to support himself, only to find out that people expect you to keep reinventing yourself,.

I remember listening to this album in 2016, on its release and thinking that it wasn’t experimental enough. I’m listening to this album 2 years later and I can say that it’s still isn’t experimental masterpiece, BUT it’s not meant to be overly experimental. It’s just fun, engaging album. There are a lot interesting samples and structuring decisions. It’s a dance album in some extend. Overall I can say that Human Energy is a pretty good. 60. I played the songs for friends and their immediate reaction was that the songs made them feel something in their bodies, like.

Zadora
Then I am crazy too, because I definitely hear the style of Rustie's Glass Swords in this album.

iambayo it reminds me of Rustie's Glass Swords. biiig glitchy tunes....love it If this reminds you of glass swords you are crazy. Sands by Alan Holdsworth reminds me of Glass Swords. This is an album that follows the ideas of PC Music. It sits on the borderline of the new pop scene and the underground scene. It's a outcropping of Travis' work with Dawn Richards.

I thought the same thing when I first heard it. It was quite a surprise how bright and clean this album sounded in comparison to the dark grittiness of his previous one
