Toni Basil is the second and final studio album by Toni Basil, released in 1983 on Chrysalis Records. Despite the success of her previous album and the single "Mickey", the album was unsuccessful and did not enter the Billboard US album chart. The first single from the album, "Over My Head", reached on the Billboard Hot 100, her third and final song to do so. Of the four singles from the album, three managed to chart in the US.

Toni Basil changed the lyrics from "Kitty" to "Mickey" and the gender from female to male. She decided on "Mickey" as she was fond of former Monkee Micky Dolenz, who she choreographed in the 1968 Monkees movie Head. Tony Basil can be seen in Head in the surreal sequence where Davy Jones and Tony Basil dance alternately in a white and a black room, wearing a combination of white and black. This was written by the songwriting team of Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, who wrote several other pop hits, including "Love Is A Battlefield" and "Ballroom Blitz.

Of all the songs on Word Of Mouth, "Mickey" is probably actually one of the more lackluster tunes, perhaps only because it's played to death even in 2007; I mean it is a great song and when you listen to the album in full you start tapping and chanting along with Toni and her girls but the other songs found on this. album is what really makes it a premiere footnote in the new wave world of the early 80's.

For years, it had been rumored that the name was changed to Mickey because Basil was fond of The Monkees' drummer and lead vocalist Micky Dolenz after meeting him on the set of their movie Head for which she was the choreographer; however, this claim has been denied by Basil, who said she didn't know Dolenz that well.
