Ode to Echo is the fourteenth studio album by American progressive rock band Glass Hammer, released on March 11, 2014. It is the first album with drummer Aaron Raulston, and marks the return of former vocalists Carl Groves and Susie Bogdanowicz. Groves wasn't featured in a Glass Hammer album since Culture of Ascent in 2007, and Bogdanowicz's last album with the band was Three Cheers for the Broken-Hearted in 2009; in the three previous albums, all lead vocals were sung by new singer Jon Davison.

Only for completionists (3%). I may hesitate to call Ode to Echo a great album, but it's certainly enough to underline Glass Hammer as a potentially fantastic band. I may have been resistant a few years back when I was first alerted to a symphonic prog revival, but when Glass Hammer remind me here almost as much of Porcupine Tree as your typical Yeses and Genesises, it's clear- if nothing else- that the style can feel modern and fresh in the right hands.

Then comes "Ode to Echo. I'm told it needs a bunch of "listenings" to appreciate, but I've not appreciated it yet. I liked Tales from Topographic Oceans" immediately. It didn't take a "bunch of listenings. Perilous" and "If" were great right off the bat. Sooooo I'm waiting for the next great album by Glass Hammer. Randall Williams for "If" and "Perilous" is missing. The new drummer is skillful, just not as clean as Williams.
Garden of Hedon, 07:00. Now playing: Queen I Want to Break Free. Rag'n'Bone Man Giant.
Glass Hammer’s 14th studio album is something of a minor nostalgia trip for aficionados. Only ts Steve Babbs and Fred Schendel remain from the band’s earliest incarnation, and said fans tend to disagree on the question of their ‘best ever’ vocalist. Ode To Echo deals with this very pragmatically, by featuring every vocalist ever to appear on a Glass Hammer album.
