Talk about Experimental Products - Glowing In The Dark

Glowing In The Dark is undoubtedly a classic, but the b-sides are in my mind equally as good.Love Changes has a distinct Italo vibe, with an irresistible chorus. Very cool, very sexy, very 1984 underground. There's none of the bombast you associate with the mid-80's here. No screaming diva female vocals, no overproduction, no saxophone solos. Just classy synth music, with an eye firmly on discos. As for The Mannequin, well that's where things get REALLY interesting. You're instantly hit with a staccato synth line along with some eerie pads, and then you drop into pure nightclub heaven. If I can dream a little, we're talking darkened warehouse rooms, slightly too cold and rather claustrophobic. Yellow strobelights flicker against the dark grey concrete walls & smoke machine, in time to the pulsating bassline. The dancers have no real connection. The boys are ice cold & handsome, the girls are distant & beautiful. Yet everything is in sync, thanks to MDMA.Well, yeah. That's the image I get in my head when I listen to The Mannequin. This is music that really touches my soul.

I am also that very connected with The Mannequin, reminds me of San Francisco streets late at night looking in Store front windows at Mannequins on display. Such a beautiful song to even sing to in a dim lit room.

Unsure why this electro/wave classic hasn't been reviewed before now. Obviously the choice cut on here is Glowing in The Dark, however this is a fantastic record with two other tracks that should not be under-estimated. Mannequin is symbolic of the melodramatic synth visionaires; typically moody E.P, yet sprinkled with energetic, haunting vibes throughout. I think Love Changes is the unsung hero here. Again, the moody melodrama, with tantelising sweet melodies, synth stabs a-go-go and a sing-along- chorus. Well crafted perfectionism
