Hip-O Select’s 2010 double-disc set Sweet Dreams: The Complete Decca Masters (1960-1963) gathers all of the 51 master takes Patsy Cline recorded with Owen Bradley after she left 4 Star Records for Decca in 1960, running right until her tragic death in 1963. This is the first time all these master takes have been issued in a complete set, which is hard to believe because they form the core of Cline’s legacy. Sweet Dreams (Of You).

Sweet Dreams" or "Sweet Dreams (of You)" is a country ballad, which was written by Don Gibson. Gibson originally recorded the song in 1955; his version hit the top ten of Billboard's country chart, but was eclipsed by the success of a competing version by Faron Young. Flashback: Patsy Cline’s Final Studio Sessions Yield Sad ‘Sweet Dreams’. Cline cut the classic Don Gibson heartbreaker 55 years ago today, on February 5th, 1963, just two days before her last-ever recording session. By. Stephen L. Betts. Cline’s previous LP, 1962’s Sentimentally Yours, was only her third full album, but it featured her second chart-topping country hit, She’s Got You, and hopes for this new project were high. During the first evening’s sessions, Cline was joined in the studio by producer Owen Bradley, background vocalists the Jordanaires, guitarists including Grady Martin and Cline’s manager, Randy Hughes, piano player Floyd Cramer, and, among the others, a total of 10 violinists. During the initial session, they cut Faded Love, Love Letters in the Sand and Someday You’ll Want Me to Want You.
