While both dysarthria and aphasia can affect an individual’s ability to produce fluent and intelligible speech, they have very different causes. It causes a wide range of symptoms including breathy and nasal speech, drooling, uneven starts and stops, irregular volume, intonation and emphasis, and unclear articulation of words.
