Album recorded at the legendary Wally Heider Los Angeles studios by Rik Pekkonen (Neil Young, T. Rex, Ariel Pink) and features heavy session players Dr. John, Jim Keltner, and James Burton. Lovingly re-mastered from the original master tapes. Pressed on blue vinyl. Released in 1969 on the minor label Sundown Records, Harlan County simply fell through the cracks between monster selling titles by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Despite being allied with some of the biggest names in the business and a deft musical touch, Ford never struck gold as a solo artist and eventually left the often cutthroat music business for a quieter life at the turn of the 1980’s. Jimmy Ford is the baddest white man on the planet, said Sly Stone of Jim Ford, and listening to Harlan County today who’s to argue?

In 1969 Jim Ford released his first and only album, 'Harlan County. Musically, it inhabited the same territory as 'From Elvis In Memphis' or Dan Penn's 'Nobody's Fool,' but Ford's record was every bit their equal. Hot country guitars blended with New Orleans styled piano laid over a bedrock rhythm section of hard-driving, sweat-drenched funk and soul. Ballads like Love On My Brain and Changing Colors are enduringly beautiful. Even now, it only seems a matter of time before someone samples the grooves of danceable tracks like I'm Gonna Make Her Love Me or Under Construction. Harlan County' didn't make big waves back then, but the number of admirers has grown every yea. nd this in itself is surprising considering how hard it was to find the LP. Many tried to find out what happened to Ford without much success.
