The musical compass offered herein, though weighted toward Scandinavian composers, is enormous, ranging from Schiøtz' groundbreaking 1945 recording with Gerald Moore of Schubert's song cycle Die schöne Mullerin to swinging, and ever so slightly silly, bits from Bernhard Christensen's jazz oratorio De 24 Timer (1934)

Aksel Schiøtz (1906–1975) was a Danish tenor who was considered one of Europe's leading Lieder singer after World War II. He was the father of Birgitte Grimstad. From the liner notes of RCA Victor Red Label LM-1968: "The tenor was born in Roskilde, near Copenhagen, September 1, 1906.
