Kevin Carter" is a song by Manic Street Preachers, released as the third single from their album Everything Must Go in 1996. The song peaked at number 9 in the UK Singles Chart. The subject of the lyric was the 1994 Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, Kevin Carter who was awarded for his photograph the vulture and the little girl, taken in South Sudan. Carter also photographed murders by necklacing in South Africa in the mid-1980s.

Artist: Manic Street Preachers Song: Kevin Carter Album: Everything Must Go. Hi there! This is one of the three songs on "Everything Must Go" that was written by Richey. He co-wrote a few others on the album as well but you probably know that. Kevin Carter was a photographer who took a picture of a vulture standing near a dying child. This photo won him the Pulitzer prize and he became very famous. He was not happy and so killed himself because he couldn't live with the thought that instead of helping the child he photographed it and left it to die.
The Manic Street Preachers guitarist vanished in February 1995, and the band continued on without him, including five songs on the Everything Must Go album (the first one released after his disappearance) that he co-wrote. The band was hoping that Edwards was in hiding, and that including some of his songs on the set would flush him out. In writing about Kevin Carter, Edwards opened a window to his own sense of nihilism and a depression that is exasperated by success. His body was never found. More songs from Manic Street Preachers.
