The Growing Disconnect. Political punk rock in the vein of Jawbreaker, Fugazi, Leatherface, and Conflict. Abolitionist is a Portland, OR-based punk band. We started in the fall of 2009 and have since released two full-length LP/CDs, in addition to having released a digital EP and a couple of 7" records; we've also appeared on numerous compilations. Drawing heavily on melodic punk musical influences (. Jawbreaker, Fugazi, Leatherface, Conflict, et cetera), we try to blend tuneful music with the pressing issues of the day.

The Growing Disconnect (2013). It wasn't until 2012's Bleeding Kansas that Abolitionist really grasped their own identity and were able to stand fully apart from their influences. That's why it's so daring for them to undergo such a significant style change on their second LP, The Growing Disconnect. The band still have their Dillinger Four/Spits-ish vocals. But, where Kansas left the pop-punk in lieu of post-punk, it's interesting that on Disconnect, the band opt for their most classic sounding punk record to date

Formed in 2009 by vocalist/guitarist Dustin Herron, Abolitionist had a continually shifting lineup over the years before settling on the current lineup of Jeremy Dunlap on lead guitar, Joseph Mohler on bass/vocals, and Sean Rule (of the nineties east coast punk band, Plow United) on drums. The Instant comes on the heels of three previous full-length vinyl LPs (all of which follow a dystopian storyline of some kind), and a tour around the western United States last summer.
