The New Cactus Band, led by Duane Hitchings, released one album, Son of Cactus (1973), which featured none of the original Cactus members. Mike Pinera, formerly of Blues Image and Iron Butterfly, came in on guitar, along with Roland Robinson on bass and Jerry Norris on drums. The band then toured live in the Midwest and on the East Coast in mid 1973 with Captain Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell and former Gregg Allman bass player Charlie Souza. The New Cactus Band soon disbanded. Their sole album peaked at on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart

Cool Kids is the second studio album by the glam metal band Kix. It was released in 1983 on Atlantic Records. It is the only Kix album to feature Brad Divens of Wrathchild America and Souls at Zero on guitar. Cool Kids reached position on the Billboard charts. It showcases a slightly more commercial side of the band and started the band's trend of including material written by outside songwriters, which then continued on all of their following studio albums.
