The Bevis Frond is an English rock band formed in 1986 in Walthamstow, London. The band is fronted by Nick Saloman and has recorded many singles and albums on various independent labels. Saloman was originally in a band known as the Bevis Frond Museum in the late 1960s, and in the 1970s, whilst at college, he played guitar with a duo called Oddsocks. They released one album, Men of the Moment.

Thankfully his songwriting and playing matches his technical ear, and Miasma still sounds good years after its initial emergence. So much of what would become mainstays of Bevis Frond music - Saloman's hangdog, expressive voice, his tape-melting solos, and overall focus on keeping the psychedelic freak-out spirit alive - was already perfectly in place. Eventually they paid compensation, and Nick bought a portastudio to record some songs, which he pressed up as an album, Miasma, in a limited release of 500 copies. The genius of this debut release was soon picked up, and he had to rush to the pressing plant to generate more copies for the growing legions of fans of the Bard of Walthamstow. So here it is, the debut Bevis Frond Album.
