Take On Me" is a song by Norwegian synthpop band A-ha, first released in 1984. The self-composed original version was produced by Tony Mansfield, and remixed by John Ratcliff. The second version was produced by Alan Tarney for the group's debut studio album Hunting High and Low (1985). The song combines synthpop with a varied instrumentation that includes acoustic guitars, keyboards and drums.

A-ha wrote and recorded the first version of this song in 1982 with the title "Lesson One" - it had different lyrics but contained the basic keyboard riff. In 1983, the song got the attention of industry veteran Terry Slater, who became their manager and helped them secure a contract with Warner Bros. Records later that year. Patterson told us: "We started on a-ha's 'Take on Me' - the project began with my animated film Commuter, which won the student academy award in 1981 - it's done in the same animation style. The Christian punk band MXPX covered it on their 1995 album On the Cover. Reel Big Fish released their cover in 1996, which was used in the 1998 movie BASEketball. It's a popular song at their concerts.

Produced by Alan Tarney & John Ratcliff. Album Hunting High and Low. Take On Me Lyrics. We're talking away I don't know what I'm to say I'll say it anyway Today's another day to find you Shying away I'll be coming for your love, OK? Take on me (take on me) Take me on (take on me) I'll be gone In a day or two. So needless to say I'm odds and ends But I'll be stumbling away Slowly learning that life is ok Say after me It's no better to be safe than sorry
