Pueblo Bonito is a must see spot when you visit Chaco Canyon. It's a short hike from the parking lot or you can take a longer trail system that connects multiple sites. Date of experience: May 2019. This remarkable preservation is the keystone to the surrounding pueblo culture. While it raises as many questions as it answers, there is no question of its unique value in understanding early human life on the Colorado Plateau More.

Taos Pueblo is the only living Native American community designated both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. The multi-story adobe buildings have been continuously inhabited for over a 1,000 years. The Pueblo is 3 miles northeast of Taos Plaza. Archaeologists say that ancestors of the Taos Indians lived in this valley long before Columbus discovered America and hundreds of years before Europe emerged from the Dark Ages. Ancient ruins in the Taos Valley indicate our people lived here nearly 1000 years ago.
