Five years after their début EP was released to critical acclaim, The Pirate Ship Quintet have recorded their first full length album entitled ‘Rope for No-Hopers’, to be pressed courtesy of Denovali Records. The record is a compendium of pieces chosen and refined from an abundance written over the past few years, during which time the band disappeared from the live scene. We are The Pirate Ship Quintet, based in Bristol, SouthWestEngland. We are five core members but have worked with numerous other musicians since our beginnings. We have released records through Sound Devastation and Denovali Records.

This follows their highly acclaimed 2007 self-titled debut EP and 2012’s full length, Rope for No Hopers. Once again taking their favoured DIY approach, the album was recorded and mixed by the band, giving them complete control over the record’s direction and nuance.

Rope for No-Hopers is a music studio album recording by THE PIRATE SHIP QUINTET (Post Rock/Math rock/Progressive Rock) released in 2012 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Rope For No-Hopers is an excellent post-rock album, extra-heavy on the strings which is always a good thing, and contains numerous examples of stellar musicianship. Some songs include a horn section and others take influence from screamo music but the overall atmosphere is largely the same and it is a lovely one. They create a bleak atmosphere that lives up to the image the band creates with their name as well as the album title.
