Basilis Konstantine "Basil" Poledouris (21 August 1945 – 8 November 2006) was a Greek-American music composer specialized in the scores for movies and television shows. Poledouris won the Emmy Award for Best Musical Score for work on part four of the TV miniseries Lonesome Dove in 1989. Basil Poledouris was born in Kansas City, Missouri, United States.

The late Basil Poledouris crafted a rousing and involving score that characterizes the barely civilized world of Robert E. Howard's Hyborian Ag. .this new version (and like most re-issue CDs comes with alternate takes, so you can see where the composer started and where he ended) uncovers musical orchestration and elements that weren't apparent in the earlier version of this. Real bone-rattling gutsy music alternating with delicate and even spiritual passages.
