Come on Feel the Lemonheads is the sixth studio album by The Lemonheads. It was released on October 12, 1993. Although the album did not maintain the same popularity as the previous album, It's a Shame About Ray, Come on Feel the Lemonheads reached number 56 on the Billboard 200, making it the Lemonheads' highest ever chart position to date.

On their breakout album, It's a Shame About Ray, Juliana Hatfield had joined on bass guitar and backing vocals. She would remain the backing vocalist for the follow-up album Come on Feel the Lemonheads, but would be replaced on bass guitar by Nic Dalton. John Strohm, who had previously played drums with the band during their early years, toured with the band as a second guitarist in support of these albums

It’s almost unnerving when a band unexpectedly hits an artistic high-point. Back then, there was a level of mistrust amongst Lemonheads non-believers. Their talismanic singer Evan Dando was too good-looking, partied too hard and hadn’t, as yet, delivered an album of any cohesion. Indeed Dando has spent his career garnering both a slug of adulation and a fair amount of resentment. Evan Dildo, the slacker-jawed himbo’ was a summary collection of put-downs. Dando would describe his time in Australia as one big Valium and his improved outlook enabled him to write the album in its entirety. It’s A Shame About Ray is stuffed with colourful personalities, based on the people Dando met in Oz. The pogo-punk of ‘Alison’s Started To Happen’ was inspired by Alison Galloway, the drummer with Smudge and initially written about a time she was on ecstasy before being turned into a love song.

The Lemonheads' third Atlantic album has its moments: "The Great Big NO," "Down About It" and "Dawn Can't Decide" don't break new ground (the dB's jangled better 12 years ago), but they're catchy, rollicking pop tunes. Unfortunately, frontman Evan Dando wants to be taken seriously as an artist dealing with big issues. Big Gay Heart" is a country-flavored protest of gay-bashing in which he takes a cue from Kurt Cobain and flirts with bisexuality

Perhaps it was because most of the songs were his lyrics or because he was the one out front. Or maybe it was as simple as his great looks. Regardless of how the conversation started, in the years following the release of The Lemonheads’ creative peak, 1992’s It’s a Shame About Ray, all anyone really talked about was Dando’s descent into drug abuse. Despite having free reign within his group and having released his most accomplished album thus far, by the time The Lemonheads hit Australia in late 1990 and finished touring in support of Lovey, Dando was on the verge of being over the whole thing. Suspending the group, so to speak, Dando returned Down Under in October 1991, immediately reconnecting with some of the folks he happened upon while on tour.
