Desperado is the second studio album by the American band the Eagles. It was recorded at Island Studios in London, England and released in 1973. The songs on Desperado are based on the themes of the Old West. The band members are featured on the album's cover dressed like an outlaw gang; Desperado remains the only Eagles album where the band members appear on the front cover.
Thought I saw you at an unmarked crossing Picking flowers at the edge of a lane There was dust on my windshield I was looking in the mirror I was almost hit by a train Later on at a four-way stop I forgot to take my turn I was thinking you were right And we had nothing left Somebody blew their horn.
Fred Eaglesmith (born as Frederick Elgersma on July 9, 1957 in Caistor Centre, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter. Eaglesmith was one of nine children of an immigrant family from the Dutch province Friesland and raised in rural Southern Ontario. As a teenager, he hopped a freight train out to Western Canada, and began writing songs and performing.
From Fred Eaglesmith album 6 Volts. A lovely song from Fred Eaglesmith's album 6 Volts.
Frederick John Elgersma (born July 9, 1957), known by the stage name Fred Eaglesmith, is a Canadian alternative country singer-songwriter. He is known for writing songs about vehicles, rural life, down-and-out characters, lost love and quirky rural folk. His songwriting uses techniques of short story writing, including unreliable narrators, surprise endings, and plot twists. In 2016, Eaglesmith toured extensively with his band.
Fred Eaglesmith isn't exactly a country singer. Perhaps what this raspy-voiced Canadian troubadour has perfected is best described as North Country music. Owing something to Steve Earle's feistiness, John Prine's working-class song craft, and, as he develops in the studio, Tom Waits's musical dissonance, Eaglesmith creates music that's ultimately reflective of his background. Kasey Chambers also covers "Freight Train" found on this album. Both of her covers reveal Fred Eaglesmith's brilliance as a songwriter. So based on that endorsement I figured it was high time to check out the source of these two great songs.
