Over the past year, he’s released a solo record titled Freedom’s Goblin, his sophomore collaborative album with White Fence called Joy, an album with his aggro post-punk band GØGGS called Pre Strike Sweep and will be dropping the all-covers album Fudge Sandwich this Friday. To really top off a banner 2018, Segall quietly and sneakily released a fifth album last Friday, October 18 during the opening reception for his art show Orange Rainbow in Los Angeles. American garage rock musician Ty Segall has released ten studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays (EPs), nineteen singles, and sixteen music videos. Ty Segall is the ninth studio album by American garage rock musician Ty Segall, released on January 27, 2017 on Drag City Records Preceded by the single, "Orange Color Queen", the album was recorded with a full backing band, consisting of regular collaborators, Mikal Cronin (bass), Charles Moothart (drums) and Emmett Kelly (guitar), alongside Ben Boye (piano)  . Writing and composition. The track "Orange Color Queen" is a love song written for Segall's girlfriend Denée. I travel around the world for a living and have developed a slight fear of flying.

The CIA is the sixth Ty Segall album of 2018, if you count all of his various projects. Unfortunately, it is also the sixth best Ty Segall album of 2018. Following three sets under his own name – the wonderfully sprawling Freedom’s Goblin, the exuberant covers record Fudge Sandwich and the cassette-only Orange Rainbow – as well as albums with White Fence and GØGGS, the CIA is a collaboration with his wife, Denée Segall, and Emmett Kelly, a member of his touring band.

Ty Segall first garnered public acclaim as the lead singer of Orange County, California garage rock revivalists the Epsilons. With that band, he practiced a rawer, snottier take on Strokes/Vines/White Stripes-style rock, occasionally delving into more retro territory. The next Ty Segall album was a self-titled effort in early 2017 on Drag City, recorded at Steve Albini's studio and featuring a full band that included longtime collaborator Mikal Cronin and the Cairo Gang's Emmett Kelly on guitar and vocals. Well received, the album reached number ten on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. The same month, he also brought out a low-key cassette-only release, Orange Rainbow, created in a run of just 55 copies for sale at a show of his visual art at a Los Angeles gallery. In January 2018, a pair of live shows in Los Angeles on the tour supporting Freedom's Goblin were recorded by Steve Albini.
