The 1970 release of the James Gang Rides Again helped define 70s rock and served as a calling card for guitarist Joe Walsh, who went on to greater fame as a solo artist and member of the Eagles. This sonically impressive greatest hits reissue, featuring ten songs remastered from the original analog tape and pressed at the Quality Record plant in Salina, Kansas, showcases the band’s chunkiness. Walsh could crunch chords a la Deep Purple, but there was a homegrown Midwestern tone to this Cleveland band’s FM-radio-ready sound.

The James Gang rocked it out of Cleveland, Ohio for several years and worked closely with producer Bill Szymczyk, helping him to become a go to console master for a variety of hard rock groups that include The J. Geils Band and, latterly, The Eagles. The Barnstorm album (1972) is a thrilling affair. Walsh aside he’d enlisted Joe Vitale and Kenny Passarelli and they became the first outfit to record at James William Guercio’s Caribou Ranch in Colorado. Wrapping things up nicely is the Best of Joe Walsh and The James Gang 1969-1974, which is eighteen tracks and none of ‘em whack.

Joe Walsh is an American musician. Known as a member of the rock band Eagles, Walsh is also a solo recording artist. His highest charting song is "A Life of Illusion", which reached number-one on Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. The Best Of James Gang Featuring Joe Walsh.

The Best of the James Gang is the way a career overview should be - two discs jammed to the limit with the group's hits and strong album cuts. Joe Walsh and company put the "power" in "power trio" as they supplied a smattering of releases from 1969-1971 that were custom-made to be cranked on eight-track while cruising in a Camaro

about seven minutes of Little Richard at his best with the James Gang backing him u. He added, "I couldn't believe I found it and I called Little Richard and I told him and he remembered and I said 'is it okay?' He said 'it makes me want to go out in the yard and yell Lordy, Lordy!' I guess that meant 'okay!'". So it's just a classic. It's a real treasure to have found and I thought I'd just throw that on there.
