Human Clay is the second studio album by American rock band Creed, released on September 28, 1999 through Wind-up Records. Produced by John Kurzweg, it was the band's last album to feature Brian Marshall, who left the band in August 2000, until 2009's Full Circle.

The Clay States is Stephen Collins (Vocals, Cello, Guitar, Ukulele, Percussion) and Lauren Little (Vocals). Jars of Clay's eponymous first full-length album is characterized by a combination of drum loops and acoustic guitar strumming that would become an early trademark of the band. Strings are also used prominently in most of the songs. Meanwhile, they received phone calls on their dormitory pay phone from record companies seeking out the band and wanting to sign them for an album.

Jars of Clay began at Greenville College, Illinois, in 1992 (though they weren't using that name at this stage). They also decided that if they were going to continue performing, they needed to give themselves a name.
