Simplifying the process is Fathers and Sons set list, which consists exclusively of vintage Waters material. Mean Disposition" and "Standin' Round Cryin'" drip with Bloomfield and Butterfield's nasty languid electric funk, and feature Waters' determined and energized vocals. On the uptempo blues/rockers "Walking Thru the Park" and "Sugar Sweet," the nimble and lyrical guitar passages meld the distance between Waters and the electric blues of Cream and Led Zeppelin.

Fathers and Sons" was one of Muddy's most successful records in the 1960s; after an unsuccessful run trying to do "psychedelic rock" mixed with blues. Hear songs from this acclaimed album along with other tunes by Muddy, Otis Spann, and Sam Lay. TONIGHT AFTER 5 . NEWSCAST Due to coverage of Humboldt softball and baseball games, we have temporarily moved the show to the 5 . hour, airing after the newscast
Chess’ much-vaunted Fathers and Sons 2-LP set, which documents the studio (1st LP) and live (2nd LP) encounters between the old guard and the new Turks of the Chicago blues, is an attractive, unpretentious success and should do well commercially. Bloomfield is almost completely subsidiary to Muddy, although he does have a few soloes in his usual style. Design – Daily Planet. Engineer – Reice Hamel (tracks: 11 to 16), Ron Malo (tracks: 1 to 10). Illustration – Don Wilson. Mastered By – Greg Fulginiti.
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was signed to Elektra Records after adding Michael Bloomfield as lead guitarist. Their original debut album was scrapped, then re-recorded after the addition of organist Mark Naftalin. Finally, their self-titled debut, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, was released in 1965. It had an immediate impact, serving as a wakeup call for a generation of musicians. In 1969 Paul Butterfield also took part in an all-star blues jam with Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, Michael Bloomfield, Sam Lay, Donald "Duck" Dunn and Buddy Miles, which was recorded and released as Fathers And Sons. After the releases of Live and Sometimes I Just Feel Like Smiling in 1970, Butterfield broke up the band and returned to Woodstock, NY.
