Arnold Corns was a band formed by David Bowie in 1971, with the name of the group being inspired by the Pink Floyd song "Arnold Layne". It was one of Bowie’s side projects and can be considered as a dry run for Ziggy Stardust but the project ultimately flopped. The band was fronted by 19-year-old dress designer Freddie Burretti (aka Rudi Valentino) with Bowie and what would eventually become the Spiders from Mars; Mick Ronson, Mick Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder. Burretti as the frontman was a total fabrication; it was Bowie in all but name. Note that Bowie rewrote 'Hang On To Yourself' for Ziggy and that this first version of the song is similar but different lyrically. Once Bowie became famous this track was re-released on this label but due to poor record company publicity not linking it to Bowie, the record flopped again.
