Jacob's Ladder (Hebrew: סולם יעקב Sulam Yaakov) is a ladder leading to heaven that was featured in a dream the biblical Patriarch Jacob had during his flight from his brother Esau in the Book of Genesis. The significance of the dream has been debated, but most interpretations agree that it identified Jacob with the obligations and inheritance of the people chosen by God, as understood in Abrahamic religions.

Jacob's Ladder is a 1990 American psychological horror film directed by Adrian Lyne, produced by Alan Marshall, written by Bruce Joel Rubin and starring Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña, and Danny Aiello. The film's protagonist, Jacob, is a Vietnam veteran whose experiences prior to and during the war result in strange, fragmentary visions and bizarre hallucinations that continue to haunt him. As his ordeal worsens, Jacob desperately attempts to figure out the truth.

Jacob's Ladder is a 1990 film about a haunted Vietnam vet, mourning his dead child, who attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of disassociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death. Directed by Adrian Lyne. Written by Bruce Joel Rubin. The most frightening thing about Jacob Singer's nightmare is that he isn't dreaming.

The ladder in Jacob's dream, found in genesis, I think is a perfect metaphor for the infinite. While we can not hope to reach the infinite (or heaven) by climbing it's sacred steps we implicitly accept that the ladder exists as a complete object, and that infinity (the LORD) exists somewhere at the other end. In this metaphorical sense, when we count we can think of it as ascending Jacob's ladder towards heaven. With that metaphor in mind let's attempt to construct our own Jacob's ladder by using the definition of counting numbers established in the previous article to define larger and larger counting numbers. The only rule that is important is that we are not allowed to use infinity, and we must define a number explicitly, and can't use vague ideas ( such as all the grains of sands on the earth, or the largest number I could come up with in a day). Towards the Infinite.

Though it’s been a while since we’d heard anything about David Rosenthal’s remake of Jacob’s Ladder, the film’s production has been chugging along quietly for some time now, and it’s all been building up to a surprisingly thrilling trailer that’s just dropped.

The only thing that burns in hell is the part of you that won't let go of your life: your memories, your attachments. They burn 'em all away. But they're not punishing you,' he said.
