Fans have speculated that the use of blond on the album cover and blonde on the album listing is a reference to Frank’s bisexuality and the themes of duality between masculinity and femininity in his life; with blond being the masculine form, and blonde being the feminine. The word blonde itself holds two interpretations.

Blond or fair hair is a hair color characterized by low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. The resultant visible hue depends on various factors, but always has some yellowish color. The color can be from the very pale blond (caused by a patchy, scarce distribution of pigment) to reddish "strawberry" blond or golden-brownish ("sandy") blond colors (the latter with more eumelanin). Because hair color tends to darken with age, natural blond hair is generally rare in adulthood.

Blond (FKA Boys Don't Cry) arrived during the night via Apple Music. On the cover, the man we've been waiting for, hair a vivid shade of Ryan Lochte green and showering in a Pre-Raphaelite pose. In a year of unusual album rollouts, including Rihanna's hastily thrust out the door 8th record, Beyoncé's Olympian offering for her second visual album and Kanye's runway project turned international listening party album The Life of Pablo, Frank Ocean's release still stands out. When the album missed its promised release date(s), praying to the Internet didn't help, neither did the amount of memes and thinkpieces surrounding what the world thought would be Boys Don't Cry.

Boys Don't Cry, the magazine distributed at pop-up locations the day this unlike-titled album was released, featured an essay in which Frank Ocean affably reflected upon his infatuation with cars. Allusions to parallels between vehicular travel and other aspects of life, such as making music, were drawn, his relief in completing the Channel Orange follow-up made apparent.

The adjective blond, in American English, takes the masculine form in all applications. Garner’s Modern American Usage also lists blond as the preferred adjectival form in American English. Blonde or Blond When Referring to Inanimate Objects? If blond is used to refer to men with light yellowish hair and blonde is used to refer to women with the same hair color, what should be used when referring to an inanimate object, like a chair or a piece of wood? When referring to inanimate objects, default to using the masculine blond. The blond in this chair is beautiful.

He finally released an album. With all the elation over its arrival, the album's release also feels like a myth has been dispelled. Frank releasing Blond/Blonde is like discovering Bigfoot was just regular man with huge toes, that unicorns are nothing more than mutated horses, discovering Hogwarts is a school for special effects not witchcraft and wizardry - the red pill has been swallowed and the illusion is over.

Talk about Blond - Blond

Malara
I feel that the "Style" of this release being described as "IDM" is somewhat misleading. While the tones, melodies and song structures might validate such a description, musically as a whole, there is so much more going on.I don't think I have heard such well crafted sound design with regards to this album's beat department. Each drum hit comprised of what I would assume are individually made samples. Not sounding at all like something you would get off a sample CD, or from slicing loops. And if this isn't the case, it certainly comes off as such.A lot of great drum and bass like breaks mixed with stompy kicks through out. Behind the analog synths and vintage electric piano/organs are where you'll find IDM'ish (and sometimes) almost glitch like textures. All of which being perfectly proportioned with the aforementioned rhythms. The ideas from track to track seem to of been laid out with awe inspiring focus and precision. When each track ends you can't help but want more. Refreshing to hear a good album that evolves from track to track. Each one as good as the other, and with no fillers. Funny to think that this was made 11 years ago, sounds timeless to me!
