Prometeo" was composed by Nono in 1984, but right after the last rehearsal before the première, he made consistent cuts to the score to reduce the original duration of 3 hours. In 1985 he organically revised the score to the present version, which is the one recorded here. The opera instrumentation requires 2 sopranos, 2 altos, tenor, 2 speakers (actors), a group of instrumental soloists (flutes, clarinets, alto trombone, tuba, euphonium, glasses, viola, cello, double bass), a chorus of soloists, orchestra in four groups and live electronics. 7243 5 55209 2 0. The conductors were Ingo Metzmacher and Peter Rundel, leading the Ensemble Modern and the Solistenchor Freiburg. Andre Richard led the live electronics team of the Experimentalstudio der ftung des SWR, Freiburg. The best analysis of PROMETEO I have found is a superb essay by Stefan Beyst from 2003 called "Luigi Nono: il Prometeo, a revolutionary swansong" (easily retrieved online). Beyst explains that "Nono enhances the natural clarity of the human voice through letting it sing on the most sonorous intervals - octaves, fifths and fourths (or a concatenation of them).

Nono pointed out that his previous "azione scenica" (scenic action) entitled "Al Gran Sole Carico d'Amore," a lavish stage spectacle about failed revolutions of the 20th century, was "unbelievably limited. With "Prometeo," he went in the other direction and avoided all historical references and theatricality. multiplicities and with differences," stated Massimo Cacciari, philosopher and librettist for "Prometeo. Prometheus is thus a wanderer in this world.

His musical education in piano, music theory and conducting was in Hanover, Salzburg and Cologne. He later joined the Ensemble Modern in 1980 as its pianist and became the orchestra's conductor in 1985. Luigi Nono: Prometeo. Ingo Metzmacher (born 10 November 1957 in Hanover, Germany) is a conductor and Artistic Director of the festival KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen in Hanover. YouTube Encyclopedic.

Tragedia dell' ascolto was the classification of his opera by Luigi Nono. He was born 1924 in Venice and he had a strong relation to his home town. His composition style was formed by the sound and the special hearing environment of the laguna city with its echoing waters, greenless brick architecture of stairs, arcades and narrow streets. It remains mainly well tamed in a low volume. Ingo Metzmacher is once again the conductor of this demanding contemporary work, presented this year at the Ruhrtriennale. The complexity requires a very precise guidance of the musicians. The Ensemble Modern Orchestra is divided in four different groups, one at each wall, as the the soloists of the Schola Heidelberg who are dispatched over the room.

With this double SACD, André Richard and Peter Hirsch’s team, who had already worked on the first performance of the then new Prometeo in Milan in 1985 with Luigi Nono and Claudio Abbado, have created a great and unrepeatable work of interpretation and recording art. Narder
This is as far -for me- the best work ever written, but... Do not buy this cd! The quality of the recording (caughings and other audience noises are spread along the two cds) is the worst i have ever heard! The sound is absoluetly not clear and way too low! The interpretation is ok but no this great... In stead of this ashaming release buy the new version of prometeo on col legno which is great! -it has been done with the help from the man who crated the live-electronics with luigi nono. This 'opera' is two hours long and near silence during maybe 1h55min :) and when it's not, it becomes REALLY LOUD! Just great, facinating moment!
