Baby, Please Don't Go" is a traditional blues song that was popularized by Delta blues musician Big Joe Williams in 1935. Many cover versions followed, and the song been described by French music historian Gérard Herzhaft as "one of the most played, arranged, and rearranged pieces in blues history". After World War II, Chicago blues and rhythm and blues artists adapted the song to newer music styles. In 1952, a doo-wop version by the Orioles reached the top ten on the race records chart.

Baby, Please Don’t Go. AC/DC. Baby, Please Don’t Go Lyrics. Baby please don't go Baby please don't go down to New Orleans You know I love you so Baby please don't go. When the man done gone When the man done gone down the county farm He got the shackles on Baby please don't go Don't leave me I'll be a dog I'll be a dog, woof I'll be a dog kiss your way down here When you walk along Baby please don't go.

Performing over four decades, he recorded such songs as "Baby Please Don't Go", "Crawlin' King Snake" and "Peach Orchard Mama" for a variety of record labels, including Bluebird, Delmark, Okeh, Prestige and Vocalion. Few blues songs have been as frequently covered as ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’; originated by Joe Williams’s Washboard Blues Singers. Van had heard a 1959 John Lee Hooker album that included the song, Van later said It struck me as being something really unique and different, with a lot of soul. The version by Paul Revere and the Raiders undoubtedly took its lead from Them. Georgie Fame covered it and must have been listening to Mose Allison’s version on ‘Mose Alive’; Georgie always championed Moses’ work. Muddy Waters 1960 version was recorded on at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival and is taken from the wonderful album ‘Muddy Waters at Newport’.

An immortal song that first turned up on Pebbles vol. 3 (the Acid Gallery). I remember the first time I saw that comp in Virgin Records... it was £9.99, an absolute fortune at the time. This was would be early '80s. I walked out of the shop without buying, ruminating on how on earth I was going to obtain this vital disc. I was unemployed at the time too, so money was short.Anyhoo, I slapped myself round the face a couple of times to remind me that 'records get you through times of no money better than ..... etc" and forked out a penny shy of £10 for Pebbles 3. I probably didn't eat that week. Most albums were about £4.49 at the time so £9.99 was outrageous. If you know that album then you know it's an essential compilation of garage psychedelia with some grade 'A' classics and a few novelties to leven the mix. It still sounds good today, even if the vinyl was thin and the reproduction a bit shakey. It was all we could get in those days.Faces is one of the mightiest entries in garage punk history. The music is punk but the lyrics are soaked in pure Sandoz 25.The guitar solos must be heard to be believed. Shimmering, and then ringing out like a peal of bells. I expect an original on Turtle is hard to find but this Garage Greats one will have to do. They weren't exactly mastered or pressed that well but ......
