Howlin' Wolf is the second studio album from Chicago blues monicist Howlin' Wolf. It is a collection of twelve singles previously released by the Chess label from 1960 through 1962. Because of the illustration on its sleeve (by Don S. Bronstein), the album is often called The Rockin' Chair Album, a nickname even added to the cover on some reissue pressings of the LP.

Real Name: James Pobiega. Solidarity Solidarnosc Records.

One of the best Howlin’ Wolf songs committed to tape was ‛How Many More Years’, issued on Chicago’s Chess label. It was an auspicious start: the song has since become a blues standard, covered by Little Feat and Joe Bonamassa, among others. The B-side, ‛Moanin’ At Midnight’, was, according to Sam Phillips, the most different record I ever heard. Even so, Wolf had little schooling and was effectively illiterate. A further album, 1971’s The London Howlin’ Wolf Sessions, put him in the company of various Stones, plus Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr and more familiar musicians, including Hubert Sumlin. These were artists that learned their craft listening to the best Howlin’ Wolf songs, and their collaboration with their hero made N. 9 on the US charts.

The Howlin' Wolf Album is a 1969 album by Howlin' Wolf, with Rotary Connection as his backing band. It mixed blues with psychedelic rock arrangements on several of Howlin' Wolf's classic songs. Howlin' Wolf strongly disliked the album, and Chess Records referenced this fact on the album's cover. Nevertheless it’s a classic now! Item Details. Artist: Howlin' Wolf.

Chronicling Howlin' Wolf's career from Memphis, through Chicago, and on into his later years. There are snippets of interviews, as well as the classic tracks you'd expect: "All Night Boogie", "Howlin' For My Darling", "Evil", "Forty Four", "Spoonful", and "I'd Better Go No. This box set is a bit much to swallow if you're not already a fan of the Wolf, but if you are, this is a great way to get his best work in one place. -Genevieve Williams. I've been a "fan" of the Wolf for over forty years. I still remember picking up the "EVIL" album with its omninous cover and bringing it home and being completely entranced by the sheer power and soul of that unique voice! Over the years of collecting every Wolf album it was difficult to duplicate my collection in cd format when I made the transition from vinyl.

Howlin' Wolf's second album brings together some of the blues great's best singles from the late '50s and early '60s.
