The George Shearing Trio - Jazz Moments flac album

This album freed pianist George Shearing from the confines of his popular Quintet and showcases him in a trio with Ahmad Jamal's former sidemen (bassist Israel Crosby and drummer Vernel Fournier). Crosby, heard in his final recording, is in excellent form during these performances and receives some rare opportunities to solo. The main star as usual is the pianist, whose style was perfectly suited to the material heard on this album.

This album was recorded in New York City on June 20 and 21, 1962. Digitally remixed from the original 3-track tapes.

Great album! I'd say it doesn't quite have the sparkle of the Ahmad Jamal trio stuff with Crosby and Fournier, but it's nice to hear Crosby get some solo space. Format: Audio CDVerified Purchase.
