Eddie Daniels (born October 19, 1941) is an American musician and composer. Although he is best known as a jazz clarinet player, he has also played alto and tenor saxophones, as well as classical music on the clarinet. Daniels was born in New York City to a Jewish family, and his mother emigrated from Romania. He was raised in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. Eddie Daniels (b. 25 October 1928) is a South African former activist against apartheid who spent 15 years as a political prisoner on Robben Island during the years that Nelson Mandela was imprisoned there. With an English-born father and a Coloured mother, Daniels was automatically racially classified as Coloured, a term he takes exception to.
