Cross Over ‎(LP, Album). Fania Records, Fania Records.

In the poem Fever 103 by Sylvia Plath, the speaker alludes to Isadora's scarves.

Written by John Child, contributor to Descarga. Standout tracks include Aguanile, the iconic song from Fania legends Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe which first appeared on the album El Juicio in 1972, for which Marquez enlisted noted musicians Bobby Wilmore and Lazaro Galarraga, who specialize in Afro-Cuban percussion, to perform on congas and bata drums.

As Fania struggled to cross over to a wider (and whiter) audience, it seems as if they almost forgot about their salsa roots. Tracks like "You Want It - We Got It" seem more appropriate on a disco compilation than a salsa album. Still, there are some strong moments here and Ruben Blades' Prepara represents salsa' greatest poet in his finest voice.

The all-star cast included Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ricardo Ray, and Bobby Cruz, and resulted in a live double album. The experiment couldn’t have been more successful. In 1975, the band returned to Yankee Stadium, this time with such famous names as Celia Cruz, Héctor Lavoe, Justo Betancourt, Ismael Quintana, Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Mirando, Pete El Conde Rodríguez, Bobby Cruz, and Santos Colón.

Fania Records is a New York based record label founded by Dominican-born composer and bandleader Johnny Pacheco and Brooklyn born Italian-American ex New York City Police Officer turned lawyer Jerry Masucci in 1964. The label took its name from a popular luncheonette frequented by musicians in Havana, Cuba that Masucci frequented when he worked for a public relations firm there during the pre-Castro era. Fania is known for its promotion of Salsa music.
