It Still Moves is the third album by the rock band My Morning Jacket. The album also marks the first appearance of drummer Patrick Hallahan, as well as the final appearances of guitarist Johnny Quaid and keyboardist Danny Cash. The album was remixed and reissued by ATO Records in May 2016.

Z is the fourth studio album by psychedelic rock band My Morning Jacket. The heavy reverb that was a defining characteristic of the band's prior recordings is largely absent. The songs on the album are more focused and shorter compared to the band's previous albums.

Only 6 left in stock (more on the way). 2003's It Still Moves shows the absolute peak of the early sound of MMJ. All the earlier sounds are still there, the reverb vocals, the sparkly guitars, the classic rock production, but this time, the songs are bigger and brighter, and there are expertly-placed hooks all around. With a major label debut and a higher budget, the songs are right in your face, with some interesting surprises to boot (Memphis horns, anybody?). Scott Floman said it best: "This is the rare album that can appeal to the stoner set who just want to "chill out" and rocker types who'd also like the band's uniquely spacey brand of Southern psychedelia. It's appeal is broad, from the jam-band crowd to the hipsters to your parents. This is the kind of album that will last forever.

The My Morning Jacket frontman even goes so far as to call it dangerous. Yet his band just reissued its monumental 2003 album It Still Moves, and, by some small wonder, I found myself on the phone with James discussing it on a recent afternoon. On the surface, It Still Moves was a mammoth success. It took a then up-and-coming band signed to a independent label into a revered major-label rock outfit in the elite class of bands to have headlined nearly every major music festival.

Talk about My Morning Jacket - It Still Moves

Gaiauaco
Terrible pressing, lots of noise and pops. Completely un-listenable. Unfortunate because this is my favorite MMJ album. But the copy I picked up was just terrible.
Detenta
not the greatest pressing in the world, a bit quiet and dull. does have some surface noise on side A but not overly annoying. certainly listenable but could be better
Zavevidi
This for me is the best cut of this record...much better than the current boxset remaster which i found to be a bit lightweight compared to this..
Ubrise
Had this set for a week and i much prefer the original numbered UK pressing, it just sounds so much better to me and quite analog sounding. This remix on vinyl sounds a little lightweight, lacking in the bass department, although it does being forward some details in the mix.
Sennnel
Another beautifully pressed set of records cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. The man's a genius!
Arcanefist
Yeah, this pressing is pretty bad. Hoping the reissue coming out this week is better.

I just recently picked up this LP, brand new, from a high profile/volume record store. The pressing is terrible... loud pops and distortion on A & B, the kind of stuff a good cleaning cannot fix. I didn't see that there was an official re-release so am not sure what is up. So if you see one out there, be wary until the issue is addressed.
Perius
Just got mine this weekend -- sounds terrible. Same issues for me, distortion, pops, surface noise, etc.
Wafi
I see a couple of vendors that have this same UPC as a 2008 release, so apparently it was repressed in 2008. I was hoping that there would be another release of just-vinyl when the boxset came out earlier this year (2016, not sure if it was in a box, the 4 LP copy... "deluxe edition"). After all, if they're going to take the time to remaster it, why not press new copies? I would rather not pay extra for the bonus material.

Was this version (on ATO) really released in 2003? I have the 2xLP version on Badman that was in stores when the album came out in 2003, and it sounds wonderful. At the time, it was common for band's vinyl releases to be handled by an indie once they signed to a major label. So I would find it odd that ATO/RCA actually put out a competing vinyl at the same time.Is it possible the ATO pressing came out a few years later as a reissue? Do you remember when you bought this?
Warianys
My copy sounds great. Maybe I just got lucky? Playing through headphones now and I don't hear any pops or issues.
Gogal
Copy I bought when it came out has same issues

Ever since I heard this album some years ago I've been a true hardcore MMJ-fan! Their music isn't easy to find in Sweden, not even in USA, but with some luck and a lot of patience you can find most cd's! Anyways, my love for this album (and band) is as pure as it can get. 70 minutes + of dreamy nu-country/indie ("Mahgeetah", "Golden"), emotional acoustic folk ("One in the same"), pure classic rock ("One big holiday", which has to be one of the catchiest rock-songs ever) and some really majestic and epic songs which combines elements from the above mentioned styles ("I will sing you songs", "Rollin' back", "Steam engine"). The music really touches your heart, it is so honest and pure! It is one of those few perfect albums, and MMJ is one of those perfect bands that varies their music as much as possible without losing their own, unique sound. MMJ's mastermind Jim James seem to love creating not only great pop/rock-songs with brilliant lyrics, but also constructing beautiful atmospheres, sometimes with and sometimes without vocals. He is not afraid of letting the music takes its time to develope (12 songs in 73-74 minutes is pretty much for a "rock"-album) which fits me perfectly, since I, as a trance-like-music-lover, am used to long and epic songs. The best song is without a doubt the absolutely stunning "I will sing you songs", a beautiful 9 minutes long masterpiece that, which when it reaches its climaxe ALWAYS give goosebumps, sometimes even tears! Jim James wonderful voice with that trademark-MMJ-reverb-and-echo is echoing in different parts over the sad guitar-and organ melody and the cymbal-hunting drums in a slow tempo, which really creates a magic and heavenly atmosphere. Touching music...
