Chakravarthi, born as Kommineni Apparao, was an Indian music director in the South Indian film industry. Chakravarthi was born in Ponnekallu, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. He has a son Sri Kommineni who was also a music director and a playback singer. Chakravarthi learned classical vocal from Mahavadi Venkatappaiah. He formed a music troupe called Vinod Orchestra in Guntur and organised light music concerts. Those days, Mangapati of HMV identified his talent and invited him to Madras.

Chekravarthy, is an Indian film character actor, screenwriter, producer, composer, singer and director known for his works in South Indian film industry and Bollywood. Chakravarthy made his screen debut with the Telugu film, Siva, an action blockbuster directed by Ram Gopal Varma, premiered at the 13th International Film Festival of India. He subsequently made his Bollywood debut with the remake of the same film titled Shiva (1990)
