Bootsauce was a Juno Award-winning Canadian rock band based in Montreal in 1989. The band was composed of Drew Ling (real name Drew Thorpe) (vocals), Pere Fume (real name Perry Johnson) (guitar), Sonny Greenwich Jr. (guitar), Alan Baculis (bass guitar), and John "Fatboy" Lalley (drums). Their style combined soul, funk and metal sounds. Bootsauce was founded in 1989 in Montreal.

Studio album by Bootsauce. The Brown Album laid the groundwork for Bootsauce's trademark musical style, which was an eclectic fusion of genres that include garage rock, heavy metal, funk, rap, and jazz. The album also introduced other elements that would prove to be distinctive band trademarks, such as lyrics rife with sexual innuendo (as evidenced by many of the song titles); their fondness for toilet humor (note the final two syllables in "Catastrophe Seas"); and their heavy use of sampling from a diverse range of sources (from old R&B records to movie dialogue) for.

Formed in Montreal in 1989 through a chance meeting between Drew Ling and guitarists Perry Johnson (who'd go under the pseudonym of Pere Fume) and Sonny Greenwich, J. the original group was rounded out with Alan Baculis on bass and drummer Rob Kazenel. After quickly becoming staples on the Ontario/Quebec circuit, they were signed to Polygram/Vertigo Records, releasing their debut album, "The Brown Album," in 1990.
