Pride is the second studio album by the American/Danish hard rock band White Lion, released on June 21, 1987, by Atlantic Records. The album featured the two top ten hits "Wait" and "When the Children Cry". It peaked at number 11 on Billboard 200 and remained in the Billboard Top 200 for a full year, selling two million copies in the US alone. According to an interview with Sea of Tranquility, the recording process of the album took six weeks and the album was produced by Michael Wagener.
White Lion was a Danish/American rock band that was formed in New York City in 1983 by Danish vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mike Tramp and American lead guitarist Vito Bratta. Mainly active in the 1980s and early 1990s, releasing their debut album Fight to Survive in 1985. The band achieved success with their No. 8 hit "Wait" and No. 3 hit "When the Children Cry" from their second album, the double platinum selling Pride.
Fairly underrated during their heyday, White Lion doesn't spend nearly as much time on macho, streetwise posturing as many of their contemporaries, and Vito Bratta is quite a convincing Eddie Van Halen imitator, making The Best of White Lion necessary for any fan of '80s hair metal.
