Focus X (also known as X) is the tenth studio album by the Dutch progressive rock band Focus, released on 5 November 5 2012 by Eastworld Recordings. Focus X is the group's first studio album in six years. The album features Menno Gootjes on guitar, replacing Niels van der Steenhoven, who played guitar on the ensemble's previous album Focus 9, New Skin (2009).

Focus X" is an album of two sides. The first half (consisting of the first four songs) relies on a fusion form of smooth jazz. Largely instrumental, it is guitar-driven mellowness that bears a very close resemblance to the recent work by Pat Metheny. Well, Focus X is without a doubt a very good album, Thijs van Leer is still a monster and it is great to know these classic bands have still something to offer, however, I do not consider this to be outstanding or revolutionary, it is simply an album easy to enjoy, but not mandatory in our collections.

if you don't recall Focus, I suspect you're too young to know better or too old with suspicious memory loss. I remember wearing out my cassette copy of Focus II (aka Moving Waves) with the international hit single Hocus Pocus, their biggest claim to fame.
