Baden Powell de Aquino, usually known simply as Baden Powell (Brazilian Portuguese: ; 6 August 1937 – 26 September 2000), was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists and guitar composers of his time. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and música popular brasileira. He performed on stage during most of his lifetime.

Album first published in 1988 and reissued in 1991 with a study work of Brazilian guitarist and composer Baden Powell de Aquino (Rio de Janeiro, from 1937-2000). He played various musical styles (bossa nova, samba, Brazilian pop music and even ventured into jazz and Latin jazz) always imbued with the spirit of his native country. This work, also been published with titles like 'Violão em Seresta' and 'Rio das valsas', is one of his very personal creations. Powell, alone with his guitar, plays Brazilian serenades supported by rythmth of waltz in intimate and very elegant versions. There's no waiting for a hint of jazz. It shows a melancholy Powell, who plays in a beautiful, sad and remorseful way. This CD contains so little optimism as beautiful spirituality, but the work deserves to be savored.
