Pandit Ravi Shankar was born on 7th Aril 1920 in Tilbhandeshwar - Varanasi. His father was Diwan of jhalawar. Panditji started his career as a dancer in brother uday Shankar's dancing troupe. In 1938 he went to Maihar in Madhya Pradesh to join Ustad Allauddin Khan to learn Sitar. In 1941 he married ustadji's daughter Annapoorna Devi. Panditji stayed with Ustadji for seven years. Pandit Ravi Shankar is a versatile artiste. He was associated with Akashvani. his jugalbandies with the artistes of the Western Music paved way for fusion of various musical disciplines. he teamed up himself.
