The album is about how we have become lost in this world due to the dependency on technology and the systems like law and education seem to be failing, hence these systems are failing. Data: release date: 1. 0. These Systems Are Failing Q&A.

These Systems Are Failing is a fiery eulogy for the future, an album that pulls sonic motifs from the iconic artist’s past to wail angry proclamations about what is likely to come. Those that first found Moby with 1999’s Play - a masterful tapestry of Delta blues vocal samples paired with downbeat, melodious electronica - may not know that three years earlier, he released Animal Rights, a punk rock album. The nine songs that make up the record, which he created himself but released under the moniker Moby & the Void Pacific Choir (a . Lawrence reference), are distinctly ’80s flavored, a series of upbeat and angry songs with few surprises and lots of fervor. Opener Hey Hey for a moment masquerades as something A-ha might’ve pegged as a Take on Me B-side before erupting into a guitar-driven cry to stay true to your dreams.

The Moby legend claims this is where it all began. Richard Melville Hall was a 1980s New York punk before he discovered dance music and assisted in its transition from warehouses to stadiums as rave went mainstream in the 90s. When he's not been noodling in ambient or flogging the entirety of mammoth 1999 album Play to the ad agencies, he's occasionally shown some of that edge – hardcore 1996 shot in the arm Animal Rights a notable swerve off-piste – but usually he keeps it on the down-low. His activism speaks louder than his music. These Systems Are Failing was launched with a cute little 'manifesto' video, starring Moby bobbing around beneath the surface of a swimming pool with a bunch of pantomime horses and a mic, sounding remarkably clear as he announces, "After eons of struggle, we've won".

These Systems Are Failing is the name of my new album. It is my first as Moby & The Pacific Void Choir. I approached this record like a four year old would approach making breakfast out of everything they like: ice-cream, the dog, their toy cars and toast. I put in everything I like: punk and post-punk and new wave and euphoric rave and yelling. The fruits of artistic compromise are rotten. These Systems Are Failing was created in Los Angeles. I moved here six years ago and it is the strangest of cities. There is so much emptiness.

the issues that i'm personally most concerned about are: animal rights, factory farming, climate change, and women's rights. oh, and electoral reform here in the usa. but it's up to you! Humane Society.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm). Moby & The Void Pacific Choir (Artist) Format: Vinyl. These Systems Are Failing. One of the things I like most about Moby is his broad range of music styling but this album seems to be one note. If I were ranking Moby albums this would come near the bottom.
