I do not know where I found vendetta red from, but for as long as I remember, I can remember their name. In the sixth grade I remember discovering the band itself, and not just the name. The first time I listened to this album, I felt as if I had already known all of the songs to the album (No one in my family listens to this music). Following "Shatterday", "Accident Sex" marks the medium of the album with calm chorus and relaxing instrumentals throughout until the short song ends and starts the second half of Between The Never And The Now. The next song, "Caught You Like A Cold" is more of a story than a song. It keeps the same melodic and peaceful elements with few screams and more focus on creativity.

Between the Now and the Never is over fourty minutes long, but it never has the dragging feeling. It never feels like you are listening to the same song over and over again, a problem that constantly plagues the "screamo" genre. Davidson inter-mixes his different vocal styles, never just screaming or singing. Vendetta Red is successful in making a very appealing album. They are likely to do very well and go far. Even if their album does not sell well with Epic, I'm sure any indie label would be glad to pick them up and support them.

Right now, Hell Is For Heroes are recharging melodic metal with barely a hairdo between them; Cave In restructure rock without a whiff of a Neptunes mix; and Kinesis prove you can be posterboy guerrillas without having to wear eye make-up. In battle-hardened 2003, resilient honour is the new skinny tie, and emo adventurers Vendetta Red are the Grand Wizards of this new normalness. Better still, they rock. All the UK’s seen so far is a string of electrifying live shows, but ‘Between The Never And The Now’ proves you can respect them in the morning. You can smell the cash, of course. Singer Zach Davidson glides from soft-focus Dando verses to Kurt-squall outros with hovercraft precision, and you can’t veer between this many genres without a pretty expensive drawing board. But crucially, it’s got soul in spades.
