The Soft Parade is the fourth studio album by American rock band the Doors, released on July 18, 1969 by Elektra Records. Most of the album was recorded following a grueling tour during which the band was left with little time to compose new material.

The Soft Parade is the fourth studio album released by psychedelic rock legends The Doors. The group used a new, more creative sound in the advent of the more experimental climate in both music and popular culture, following in the wake of The Beatles' and Jimi Hendrix’s success in experimentation.

The weakest studio album recorded with Jim Morrison in the group, partially because their experiments with brass and strings on about half the tracks weren't entirely successful. More to the point, though, this was their weakest set of material, low lights including filler like "Do It" and "Runnin' Blue," a strange bluegrass-soul blend that was a small hit. On the other hand, about half the record is quite good, especially the huge hit "Touch Me" (their most successful integration of orchestration), the vicious hard rock riffs of "Wild Child,".

The Soft Parade" is the ninth and final track on the album of the same name by the American rock band The Doors, their fourth studio album. At the beginning of the song, Jim Morrison starts out with spoken words reminiscent of a Christian revivalist preacher. This part of the song is referred to as the "Petition the Lord with Prayer" section
